A 5-night Patagonia package combining guided fly fishing with a day of trekking

Three days on the water, wading and floating rivers and lakes both public and private near Río Pico, and one day walking the Andean-Patagonian terrain surrounding the lodge. La Loma is a lodge in the middle of nowhere, and that's the point: no spa, no scenic flights, just real time outside with guides who know the ground.

Each fishing day's destination is chosen around what you'd like to see — there are several rivers and lakes to pick from, and your guide helps decide based on the season and water conditions. The trekking day works the same way: the hill or waterfall depends on what's best that week. The program comes fully guided, day by day.

**We'll pick you up at Esquel airport and take you straight to the lodge to start the trip.

Evenings wind down with home-cooked meals (red meat, white meat, pasta, vegetables, fruit), one drink included with every meal, and a Patagonian night with spit-roasted lamb, homemade empanadas and flan.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival at the lodge

After a three-hour drive through open Patagonian steppe, you reach the lodge as the light starts to fade. An artisanal appetizer platter, a good aperitif, and dinner with wine and dessert are waiting — or, if the timing works, head out to try the water that same afternoon before sitting down to eat.

  2. Day 2

    Fishing · Guided · Wading

Wading puts you right in the current, reading the water step by step in search of brown and rainbow trout in stretches only reachable on foot — it could be the Pico River, Píldoras Creek, or one of the nearby lakes, depending on how the week is fishing. Back at the lodge: breakfast before heading out, lunch riverside or packed to go, an afternoon snack, and a full dinner with an appetizer platter, wine and dessert.

  3. Day 3

    Fishing · Guided · Float

Floating covers far more water in a day than wading ever could, drifting past stretches most anglers never reach — the Nilson River, the Pampa River, Lake Vintter, or one of the other lakes, depending on what the guide picks that week. Same rhythm of meals: breakfast, lunch by the water, an afternoon snack, and dinner with appetizers, wine and dessert.

  4. Day 4

    Trekking · Medium

The hill or waterfall for the day depends on what's in the best condition that week — your guide knows the terrain and picks the route based on weather and how demanding you want the day to be. Back at the lodge: breakfast before heading out, a packed or trailside lunch, an afternoon snack, and a full dinner with an appetizer platter, wine and dessert.

  5. Day 5

    Departure from the lodge

One last breakfast with the week's best stories still fresh, a packed meal for the road, and departure from La Loma Lodge toward Esquel.
