It is a narrow, wild stream that carves its way through the stone canyons of Cajón Grande. Its structure alternates fast gravel riffles with small pools hidden by dense streamside vegetation. Fishing here is a pure walk-and-wade experience, requiring very short, accurate casts with light gear to target rainbow and brook trout sheltering under the shadows of the rocks.

The experience
The Corcovado River is born from its waters, later running through much of the region.
Andean forest reaches all the way to the water, with no roads or development around it.
Unlike other bodies of water in the area, fishing here is done standing on the bank, without a boat.
Floating is allowed across most of the lake; only near the source of the Corcovado River does the rule require fly-only with catch and release.
At the mouth of the Corcovado, brook trout fishing peaks between March and April, when they enter the river to spawn — that's when the biggest specimens of the year show up.
The river mouth into the lake also produces good-sized rainbow trout, especially early and late season — it calls for casts over 25 meters.
