A family fly fishing trip package in Patagonia.

A 5-night proposal built for families who want to share fishing with the youngest ones — or just spend a few days outdoors, on the water, away from screens.

Kids today have watched a thousand fishing videos before ever holding a rod: huge catches, bites every thirty seconds, everything edited to look easy. This starts differently. Each kid sets their own pace, not the algorithm: the guide adapts the technique by age — sometimes that means getting in the water, sometimes fishing calmly from the shore, sometimes switching to a lake by boat. There's no single right way to do it, only the one that works for that kid, that afternoon.

The program combines fishing with other outdoor outings depending on what the group prefers — a full day on the river, a shorter hike to change the pace, whatever fits best with everyone's ages. This itinerary is a starting proposal, not a closed program: we finish shaping it together based on who's traveling and what you're looking for.

**We pick you up at Esquel airport and take you straight to the lodge to start the trip — about a three-hour transfer through the Patagonian steppe.

These are full days, not short outings: you head out in the morning and come back at night, with fishing as the real center of the day, not a pause between other things. The reward isn't getting back quickly — it's everything that happens in between: the waiting, the patience, taking it slow, no screens, no rush. That pace, so different from a YouTube video, is exactly what this trip offers.

Nights close with home-style cooking (red meat, white meat, pasta, vegetables, fruit), one drink included per meal, and one Patagonian night with spit-roasted lamb, homemade empanadas, and flan.

Itinerary

  1. Day 1

    Arrival at the lodge

After a three-hour drive through open Patagonian steppe, you reach the lodge as the light starts to fade. An artisanal appetizer platter, a good aperitif, and dinner with wine and dessert are waiting — or, if the timing works, head out to try the water that same afternoon before sitting down to eat.

  2. Day 2

Fishing · With instructor · Wading

A first full day on the river, with real instruction for each kid based on their age — from the shore or in the water, whichever makes the most sense for each one. No rush, no result to chase: the goal is for each one to find their own moment with the rod. Back at the lodge: breakfast before heading out, lunch by the water or packed to go, an afternoon snack, and a full dinner with an appetizer platter, wine and dessert.

  3. Day 3

Fishing · With instructor · Float

A second day on the water, this time by boat — a different rhythm, and for some kids, easier to sustain over a long day. There's already more ease than on day one. Same rhythm of meals: breakfast, lunch by the water, an afternoon snack, and dinner with appetizers, wine and dessert.

  4. Day 4

    Trekking · Low

A shift in rhythm: a short hike, meant to stretch the legs and see the landscape from somewhere else, without the demands of a full day of fishing. A good moment to slow down before heading back to the river. Same meals as previous days.

  5. Day 5

    Guest's choise

Last day of fishing, and this time the family chooses: repeat whichever technique they liked most, or try something new. It's the perfect close to a week where every kid found their own rhythm. Same meals as previous days.

  6. Day 6

    Departure from the lodge

One last breakfast with the week's best stories still fresh, a packed meal for the road, and departure from La Loma Lodge toward Esquel.
